About VAMP
Hello Barbie Collectors!
We are VAMP Club New York – Vintage and Modern Poupées (French for dolls). Or as some like to say, Vintage and Modern Plastic.
VAMP is an opportunity to meet other local Barbie and Ken collectors. And Skipper, Midge, Allan, Ricky, Scooter, Francie, Stacey, Casey, Christie, PJ, Brad and Steffie too. Both vintage and modern Barbie collectors. Collectors both new and old.
Of course, other collectors are welcome too, including Fashion Royalty, Gene, Mdvanii, Bild Lilli and other fashion dolls, even GI Joe and action figures!
Whether your collection has one or 1,000, this is a chance for you to meet and talk with other doll and toy collectors.
About our meetings
Our VAMP Barbie collecting club has been meeting for quite a few years. We started in 2001.
We meet once a month in a very social setting. Sometimes someone gives a short show and tell about their collection. Other times we may have a guest speaker or a Barbie craft project. And, sometimes we have a Shop & Swap where members bring items to sell or trade.
Past meetings have included show and tells on Mod fashions, Pop-Culture Barbie, Japanese ball joint dolls, African-American Barbie, and how to fix your Bild Lilli. We have also had craft projects such as making your own paper dolls, sewing an A-line dress, and crocheting a Barbie scarf. Other meetings have been about playing vintage Barbie board games or have had guest speakers including local doll makers.
Where we meet
VAMP usually meets once a month from 7:00 to 9:00pm.
Most meetings will be held at Norman’s office.
